Stormers director of rugby John Dobson hopes to lure a prominent Springbok to Cape Town to help drive Project 2029.
Cheslin Kolbe remains a top target for the Stormers, despite having extended his contract with Japanese club Tokyo Suntory Sungoliath through to the end of the 2026-27 season.
“Cheslin is someone we will definitely speak to,” Dobson told Rapport. “He is one of us. We believe he can play a leadership role and continue through to 2029.”
The Kraaifontein-born speedster came through the Western Province system and represented WP and the Stormers between 2012 and 2017 before launching a glittering overseas career with Toulouse and Toulon.

Dobson’s continued interest in Kolbe has reportedly intensified after the Stormers missed out on winger Dylan Maart.
Maart featured for the Stormers on loan from Griquas earlier this season, but opted to join the Bulls after the Currie Cup.
