‘Why me?’ – Sacha left frustrated by latest injury

Stormers and Springbok flyhalf Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu has opened up on the injury he sustained in Saturday’s Vodacom URC quarter-final against Cardiff.

The 24-year-old faces around three months on the sidelines after scans confirmed an syndesmosis (high ankle) injury.

Feinberg-Mngomezulu suffered the injury while scoring a try in the Stormers’ 44-21 victory at Cape Town Stadium, hobbling off shortly afterwards.

It rules him out of the remainder of the Vodacom URC and the Springboks’ Nations Championship matches against England, Scotland and Wales in July.

He also faces a race against time to be fit for the Greatest Rivalry series against the All Blacks, which starts on 22 August.

While the setback ended a 14-month injury-free run for the gifted playmaker, he made it clear that he is already focused on the road back.

“Usually, I post caption-less carousels. This time I’ll say it how it is. Frustrated, irritated and questioning why me?” Feinberg-Mngomezulu wrote on Instagram.

The Springbok admitted the injury was a reminder that no player is immune from setbacks.

“Another injury, another chance to come back hungry, determined and focused. I’ve got a job to do, get back and get back better than I left.”

According to News24, Feinberg-Mngomezulu sustained a syndesmosis injury – commonly known as a high ankle sprain – and the initial prognosis is that he could be sidelined for around three months.

That rules him out of the remainder of the URC and the Springboks’ Nations Championship matches against England, Scotland and Wales in July.

But despite the disappointment, Feinberg-Mngomezulu is determined to come back stronger.
